Crist and Scott Remain Embroiled in Sunshine State Dead Heat

With less than a day to go, the Florida governor’s race – the most expensive in state history – is too close to call, according to a Quinnipiac University poll that shows Democrat Charlie Crist with 42 percent and Republican incumbent Rick Scott with 41 percent.

Seven percent of likely voters favor Libertarian candidate Adrian Wyllie, according to the poll, which notes that nine percent of voters remained undecided just a day before the election.

An Oct. 30 Quinnipiac poll showed Crist with 43 percent, Scott with 40 percent and Wyllie with 8 percent.

The Tampa Tribune reports that spending in the race will be north of $150 million. Scott has outspent Crist by a 2-to-1 margin but remains in a dead heat with his opponent, who previously held the position when a Republican.

“This is a one-point race. It’s razor-tight,” Tampa-based polling expert Tom Eldon told the Tribune.
