Democrats currently have the edge in both the Florida races for governor and a U.S. Senate seat, a new poll showed.
In CNN’s survey conducted by SSRS, Democratic Andrew Gillum has a 12-point lead over GOP opponent Rep. Ron DeSantis in the race for governor, 54 percent to 42 percent.
The Senate race is tighter, with incumbent Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson at 50 percent compared with GOP Gov. Rick Scott’s 45 percent.
The margin of error for the entire survey is plus or minus 3.6 percentage points.
Other takeaways from the survey show that:
- Gillum's lead reflects an advantage among women, 60 percent over DeSantis’s 34 percent. Gillum also bests DeSantis among non-white voters, 74 percent to 23 percent, younger voters, 60 percent to 33 percent, and independents, 51 percent versus 42 percent.
- In the Senate contest, both candidates are viewed favorably by 47 percent of likely voters. But 37 percent say they have a negative view of Nelson, compared with 46 percent who have a negative take on Scott.
- In both races, 11 percent of likely voters say there's a chance they could change their minds before Election Day.
