Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee are reportedly releasing their own memo in response to a "misleading" one compiled by GOP members that purportedly exposes FISA abuses by the FBI and Department of Justice.

In a statement, the panel's ranking Democrat, Rep. Adam Schiff of California, charged Republicans are trying to "selectively and misleadingly characterize classified information" in an effort to "protect" President Donald Trump, the Washington Examiner reported.

In response, Democrats drafted their own memo, Schiff said, "setting out the relevant facts" and "exposing the misleading character of the Republicans' document."

The four-page GOP memo, spearheaded by panel chairman Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif, supposedly covers results of an investigation into abuses by the DOJ and FBI in its use of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.

Schiff said the panel will vote Monday to release the Democrats' memo to the full House, the Examiner reported.

The committee has yet to vote on releasing the Nunes-led memo from beyond Congress' walls — though Republican lawmakers have come out in favor of doing so.

On Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said the Trump administration won't comment on whether it backs releasing the Nunes memo, but that it supports "full transparency."
