Carly Fiorina fired back Sunday at GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump, who was quoted last week making remarks about her appearance,
CNN reports.
Fiorina defended her record as CEO of Hewlett-Packard, which Trump also has criticized. She was fired by the Hewlett-Packard board of directors.
"I will challenge Mrs. Clinton, any other politician, and the entertainer who's running for office, to hold themselves to that same level of account because none of them are going to be able to stand up to that level of scrutiny," Fiorina said to a crowd of supporters in Alton, New Hampshire.
Trump was quoted in
Rolling Stone last week as seeing Fiorina on television and saying, "Look at that face! … Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president?"
Trump later said he was referring to her persona and not her physical appearance. He also said he made the remark in his role as
an "entertainer." He has starred in the reality TV show "The Apprentice" on NBC from 2004 until this year when he decided to run for president.
NBC officially dropped him over remarks he made about illegal immigrants during his announcement speech.
At Sunday's event, voter Maria Cunningham of Gilford, New Hampshire, said to Fiorina, "Not only do you have a great brain, you have a great face."
"This is the face of a 61-year-old woman," Fiorina said to applause. "I am proud of every year and every single wrinkle."
