Democrats are pushing to impeach President Donald Trump because they know they don't have a candidate that can beat him in the 2020 election, his son Eric Trump said Monday.
"They tried this before with a Russian hoax," Trump told Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "Every time they can create some sensational firestorm, they do it. We have the greatest economy in the history of our country. Our country is doing phenomenally well. We're getting results on every single front. They know they are not going to win."
Democrats know their "only chance" of winning will be to try to belittle Trump and change the conversation from the economy and "all the good things that are happening in this country," Trump said, but "this will backfire on them."
He added that his father is doing "great" and knows the "deep state" effort behind the impeachment investigation.
"He is the greatest fighter in the world," said Trump. "He will fight the people until the bitter end. It will backfire."
He also downplayed House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., pointing out that he has been wrong "time and time again," including during the Russia investigation.
"Their political system is broken," said Trump. "Adam Schiff is why we need term limits in this country. He is a total disgrace."
Trump also accused the whistleblower complaint about his father of not being credible, challenging watchers to say that it "wasn't written by 47 different lawyers."
"The way they worded it, this isn't a whistleblower concerned about something," said Trump. "This is written by a team of lawyers. This thing is so set up."
