Rep. Doug Collins, R-Ga., said FBI lawyer Lisa Page must provide answers about statements she made in texts between herself and FBI agent Peter Strzok, as part of House committees' investigation into bias at the Justice Department.
Congressional investigators were set for a private interview with Page on Wednesday, but her attorney said Tuesday she did not have time to prepare and would not appear.
"They are supposed to show up . . . What are you hiding, Miss Page? You had many months to prepare for this. You started this," Collins said Wednesday on Fox News' "America's Newsroom."
"They were in there cahooting together, to cause problems; now it's time to answer for that," Collins said.
Rep. Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, issued a statement regarding Page.
"It appears that Lisa Page has something to hide . . . we will use all tools at our disposal to obtain her testimony,” Goodlatte wrote.
"We're asking questions that the American people need to know, because they need to have confidence in the Department of Justice," Collins said in the Fox News interview.
