The whitest counties in the United States are voting for Republican nominee Donald Trump by a tremendously surprising margin, according to USA Today.
The difference is staggering: 73 percent for Trump to 23 percent for Clinton. That number was 65 percent Republican to 32 percent for Democrats in 2012.
Those weren't the only astonishing statistics — exit polls showed that support for Clinton among Hispanics, Asian-Americans and African-Americans waned compared to support for President Obama four years ago.
And, Trump picked up a tremendous amount of support from whites without college degrees, male voters and wealthier voters, according to The New York Times.
Voters in the 45 to 65 and over age group also said they voted for Trump along with white men and white women, according to exit polls published on Fox News. Latino men and women, meanwhile said they voted for Clinton.
CNN exit polling showed Clinton ahead with black voters by a large margin — 88 percent to 8 percent — which means Trump doubled John McCain's result among black voters from 2008. Among white men age 18 to 65 and older, or 12 percent of those polled, 48 percent voted for Trump.
