Supporters of President-elect Donald Trump are beginning to view Russian President Vladimir Putin more favorably — despite reports his regime was involved in hacking the presidential election, a new poll reveals.

An Economist/YouGov poll shows Trump voters are somewhat more positive towards Russia than they were just after the Republican and Democratic conventions last summer. And when it comes to Putin, Trump voters are more positive than the country as a whole.

But, the poll results point out, there is still skepticism and dislike for Putin even though it has lessened since July.

Here are how the poll results break down:

  • 28 percent of Trump voters view Russia as an ally, while 56 percent see the nation as an enemy. After the political conventions, 67 percent of Trump supporters had viewed Russia an enemy.
  • 47 percent of Trump supporters say the president-elect views Russia as an ally.
  • 35 percent of Trump voters see Putin favorably — an increase of nine points since July.
  • 8 percent of Hillary Clinton voters view Putin favorably, compared to 80 percent seeing him in an unfavorable light.
  • 12 percent of Trump voters believe Russia was responsible for election hacks, compared to two-thirds of Clinton voters.
  • Only 30 percent of voters overall have "quite a lot" or "great deal" of confidence in the CIA.
