The head of the Democratic National Committee is no fan of the Trump administration's decision to include a citizenship question on the 2020 census, calling it an act of intimidation against immigrant groups.
According to The Washington Times, Perez responded to Monday's census news with disagreement.
"This is a craven attack on our democracy and a transparent attempt to intimidate immigrant communities," Perez said.
Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross revealed the inclusion of a citizenship question on the next census in a letter to Under Secretary for Economic Affairs Karen Dunn Kelley. Ross said the question will ensure that the census returns "complete and accurate data."
Perez is a staunch opponent of President Donald Trump and has spoken out against him numerous times in the past year.
