Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez blasted Republicans, saying the GOP is no longer the "party of Lincoln."
His comments came during an interview on Politico's "Off Message" podcast.
He claimed the GOP is now identified with President Donald Trump, defeated Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore, controversial former Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio and others.
"The party of Lincoln is officially dead," Perez said. "It has become the party of Trump, Moore, Arpaio, (Paul) Ryan, (Mitch) McConnell."
And he singled out Ryan's reaction to Trump's reported comment on "s***hole countries" Ryan said it was "unfortunate."
"It's 'unfortunate' when it rains before a Nats game," Perez said. "It's unconscionable when somebody does something like that."
And Perez maintained the Democratic Party can win back voters, who supported Trump in the 2016 election.
"For many people, they felt the Democratic Party let them down, and so they were voting for change, and they thought Donald Trump would bring them change," Perez said. "Well, he is bringing you change — but it's not change for the better."
