Report: Biden's 'Corn Pop' Story May Be Validated

Report: Biden's 'Corn Pop' Story May Be Validated

By    |   Tuesday, 17 September 2019 04:33 PM EDT

Democratic presidential primary frontrunner Joe Biden's latest tale of years past – this time a run-in with a gang member that he diffused with diplomacy – might have some corroboration, according to the U.K.'s Independent.

Biden has been criticized of late for misremembering events and even potentially embellishing a story of a American war hero. But, per the report, Biden's recent story of a 1962 brush with danger has led to the gang member's son – born after the incident – to confirm his father has talked about Biden.

Leon Morris, the son of William Morris (aka Corn Pop), assumes there was "some type of run in or something with my dad," CNN reported.

Leon Morris told CNN he did not have an issue with Biden telling the story, but he did not want his father to be made out to be a "bad guy based on something in the distant past."

Biden's story was told at a 2017 event and resurfaced amid criticism of him embellishing stories for political gain. The story of Corn Pop came at a pool in Wilmington, Delaware, where a gun-wielding Corn Pop, allegedly a local gang leader, wanted to fight Biden. Biden said he diffused the situation to avoid a confrontation.
