Political strategist Dick Morris says President Donald Trump made tremendous gains among Black and Latino voters, something Democrats hate because, ''it’s like taking a piece out a pedestal in their statue.''
''The media is not covering the highlight of this election in terms of the returns, the unbelievable gains that Trump made among Black and Latino voters,'' Morris said Thursday during an appearance on Newsmax TV’s ''Spicer & Co.''
''He may have gotten as much as 40 percent of the Latino vote by the time it’s counted if it’s counted fairly. And probably more than 20 percent of the Black vote. That’s compared to the stats in 2016 when he got 6 percent of the Black vote and something like 24 percent of the Latino vote.''
That’s ''truly incredible,'' Morris said, ''and I think that we’re really reconfiguring not just the Republican Party but the whole country and the Democrats hate it. It’s like taking a piece out of the pedestal underneath their statue.''
Morris was referring to the diversity represented by Republicans in the House.
Republicans have secured 207 seats in the House, up from 201 prior to the election, including 11 women or minorities who beat incumbent Democrats.
The lower chamber is set to have record numbers of women and minorities in the new Congress, with most of the diversity on the Democratic side.
