Most voters believe that both Democrats and Republicans need to take more action to reduce prescription drug prices, a Kaiser Family Foundation poll reported.
A large majority said that prescription drug costs were unreasonably high.
Among the poll's results:
- 80 percent said prescription drug prices are unreasonably high.
- 52 percent said that passing laws to bring prescription drug prices down should be a "top priority" for President Donald Trump's administration.
- 77 percent believe that Trump and his administration are not doing enough to bring down prescription drug prices. 83 percent believe that Republicans are not doing enough, and 82 percent believe that Democrats are not doing enough.
- 44 percent of voters said they trust Democrats to do a better job at lowering prescription drug costs — 30 percent said they would trust Republicans to do a better job.
- 21 percent said they trust "neither" party to do the job better. That number has increased from 12 percent in 2016.
- 72 percent believe that pharmaceutical companies have too much influence in Washington.
Breaking down the results by party affiliation, 56 percent of Republicans said the Trump administration was not doing enough on drug prices, while 91 percent of Democrats and 80 percent of independents agreed.
The survey was conducted from March 8 to March 13 among, 1,212 adults ages 18 and older, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
