WashTimes' Pruden: Now Behind CIA, Dems Trying to Oust Trump

Democrats have miraculously changed their opinion on the CIA, an agency they once saw as evil, and its findings that Russia helped Donald Trump win the presidential election, writes The Washington Times' Wesley Pruden.

In his opinion piece, Pruden argues that the left — "the 'progressives,' as they want to be called" — is reaching for strings in a last-ditch effort to hand the election to Democrat Hillary Clinton.

"Now the CIA, in the liberal/left's fevered dreams, is the last bulwark of the republic, the last remaining hope to turn the 2016 election result on its head and deprive Donald Trump of the victory he won," Pruden writes. "The Russians, it now turns out, are just as bad as the conservatives said they were."

Reports say the CIA and other U.S. intelligence agencies believe Russia deliberately tried to alter the outcome of the election — in Trump's favor — by hacking national Democratic computer systems and circulating fake news stories.

One rogue Republican member of the Electoral College has even vowed not to cast a vote for Trump when each state's electors meet Dec. 19 to officially make Trump the president-elect. Democrats, including Clinton's campaign chairman John Podesta, are doing what they can to find out how much influence Russia really had on the election.

"Desperation pursues despair, and the Democrats are stumbling from inanity to insanity in search of a way to block Donald Trump's path to the White House," Pruden writes.

Pruden ultimately places blame on President Barack Obama for letting Russia get away with what appears to be meddling with American affairs.

"A competent president and a responsible 'intelligence community' would have done something about the Russians and their hackers a long time ago," he writes. "Whining doesn't work."
