Democrats have a 7-point advantage over Republicans in a generic House ballot, according to a Politico/Morning Consult poll released on Wednesday.
Forty-four percent said they are more likely to vote for Democratic candidates, 37 percent were more likely to choose GOP ones and 19 percent were undecided.
The poll, which surveyed 1,989 registered voters from June 22-24, has a margin of error of +/- 2 percentage points.
Democrats are hoping to take advantage of opposition to Preisdent Donald Trump in the midterm elections in order to retake control of the House, according to The Hill.
They need to pick up at least 24 House seats in order to do so.
In the Senate, Republican currently have a slim majority with just 51 seats. Democrats, however, face a tough election map for the upper chamber, as they must defend 10 seats in states that Trump won in the 2016 presidential election.
