Debbie Wasserman Schultz is in the Republican-friendly city of Cleveland to protest what she's calling Donald Trump's campaign of "xenophobia and hate."
Schultz, chair of the Democratic National Committee, arrived outside the Republican National Convention on Wednesday, and in a post
on her Facebook page, explained:
"Representative Marcia L. Fudge [an Ohio Democrat], Xavier Becerra [a California Democrat] and I are in Cleveland today to stand up against Trump's divisive campaign.
"Americans know that we are stronger united, and that xenophobia and hate have no place in the Oval Office. We are better than this."
She later fired off a tweet ripping into the billionaire real-estate tycoon who was anointed the GOP's 2016 presidential nominee on Tuesday night:
Many Democrats are protesting the convention, but they are far outnumbered by GOP advocates.
Democrats will hold their convention at Philadelphia's Wells Fargo Center from July 25-28. Hillary Clinton is expected to be officially tapped as the party’s presidential nominee.
