Former Republican Sen. Alfonse D'Amato recently cursed out Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, despite the fact he’s a longtime friend of the New York Democrat's dad, The Daily News reported Monday.

"She doesn’t care two s***s in a bucket about the people of the state of New York," D'Amato, who served the Empire State from 1981 to 1999, said at a recent GOP event in Long Island, two sources told the newspaper’s Ken Lovett.

D’Amato, 80, allegedly made the crack even though he is a longtime pal of Albany lobbyist Douglas Rutnik, the father of Gillibrand, who is seeking reelection to a second full term.

D’Amato is set to endorse Democrat Gillibrand’s GOP opponent, Chele Chiavacci Farley, on Monday.

Gillibrand first came to the Senate as the replacement for Sen. Hillary Clinton, who resigned to be tapped as President Barack Obama’s secretary of state.

In his endorsement of Farley, a private equity executive and GOP fundraiser, D’Amato said in a statement obtained by the News that Gillibrand “has abandoned New Yorkers in her pursuit of her presidential ambitions.”

The News said a Gillibrand spokesman had no comment on D’Amato’s reported insult.
