There are Republicans on Capitol Hill who are acting like Democrats in the healthcare debate, Sen. Ted Cruz said in a new interview.

Cruz told CRTV's Steve Deace he's frustrated with some members of his party over their refusal to support the GOP's legislation that would repeal and replace Obamacare — the same people he said voted to repeal it dozens of times during Barack Obama's presidency.

"As you know, Congress has voted 40, 50 times to repeal Obamacare," Cruz said. "Let's vote for the same thing we voted for two years ago. And we had member after member of our conference say, 'No, no, no, we knew Obama would veto it. We were happy to vote for it when it wouldn't pass, now it will actually pass so we're not gonna vote for it.' It's frustrating, it's maddening."

Cruz, R-Texas, then said some Republicans remind him of their colleagues on the other side of the aisle.

"I gotta tell you, the fights on Medicaid, there are a whole bunch of Republicans that are arguing we need to spend more, more, more, more, more, who frankly sound like Democrats," Cruz said. "I'll tell you Steve, if you join one of our lunches, I'm pretty sure we'd have to medicate you afterwards."

The House passed the American Health Care Act in April. Senate staffers and some lawmakers have been working on it since then.

The Senate GOP unveiled its version of the bill Thursday morning. There was no word on when it would be brought up for a floor vote.
