Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., a possible 2020 candidate for president, is lamenting Canada is more American than America.
In video posted by the right-leaning NTK (Need To Know) Network, Booker praises initiatives in research and development, income equity, and education in other nations.
"Every country we are competing with is driving down the cost of college," Booker said. "Germany – it cost between zero and 4 percent of median income to go to college."
Then when he mentions Canada, he pauses.
"Canada – I can't stand how they're out-Americaning us in Canada," he says. "[Prime Minister Justin] Trudeau – give me a break," he says in mock disgust.
Booker goes on to say other countries are also "out-Americaning" the United States when it comes to areas like free or reduced rate college, paid family leave, and minimum wage — calling such programs "what builds a great economy for everybody."
"They are trying to beat us to a future that we used to lead in America," he added.
