A group that calls themselves the Compton Cowboys is looking to boost voter turnout in the California city by encouraging people to saddle up on their horses to drop off their ballots.
Fox News reports the cowboys delivered their mail-in ballots on horseback on Sunday.
"This might be the most important election of many of our lifetimes – I know it is for me, just because of the ramifications of it all. The future is at stake. Our country has never really ... been to me as close to a revolution as it is now, and so I think ... it's important for us all to be active and do our part and at least say we tried," Compton Cowboy Randy Savvy told local reporters.
According to the group’s website, the Compton Cowboys was created by 10 friends who strive to showcase the “rich legacy of African Americans in equine and western heritage.”
They are advocating for others to deliver their ballots by mail and organize horse rides in their own cities.
Savvy said “everybody lights up” when the Compton Cowboys ride through the city.
“The special thing about the horse is that no matter who you are – you could be a kid, you could be an older person, you could be a gangster, you could be a white-collar person – whatever you are, you're going to see a horse, you're going to light up," he said.
