Gov. Chris Christie, R-N.J., turned down a number of potential roles in President-elect Donald Trump's administration, amid reports he was ruled out for coveted positions in the Cabinet, sources told NJ Advance Media.

Christie had been turned down as a candidate to be the next Republican National Committee chairman and was not offered a post he reportedly coveted, U.S. attorney general, according to the report.

It has become apparent Christie will not have a role in the Trump administration and will finish out his term as governor, which ends January 2018.

Christie, fired as the head of the Trump transition team in favor of Vice President-elect Mike Pence,  was a candidate for Cabinet-level positions like Homeland Security, Veteran Affairs, White House adviser or a potential ambassador – none of which he will consider, per the report.
