A debate on CNN's "New Day" over the adequacy of President Donald Trump's response to the killing of a counter protester by a white supremacist in Charlottesville, Va. got ugly when a Ken Cuccinelli told a fellow panelist to "just shut up for a minute and let me finish."
The chaos on Monday's show began when Democratic strategist Symone Sanders insisted that former attorney general of Virginia was "dismissing" the notion that the hate rally was an "egregious symptom" of a more national white-supremacy problem.
After Sanders briefly interrupted Cuccinelli's attempt at an explanation, he shot back: "Can I finish, Symone? Will you just shut up for a minute and let me finish?"
Sanders shouted back that "You do not get to tell me to shut up on national television" and the two continued to yell at each at the same time before host Chris Cuomo managed to get control of the situation and called for a reset, while telling Cuccinelli that "We don't tell people to shut up on this show."
Later in the segment, after the situation had calmed down, an attempt by Cuomo to offer Cuccinelli the opportunity to apologize for his language did not go well, as the two started arguing again before Cuccinelli eventually said, "I'll apologize for 'shut up' and I'll accept her apology for interrupting me."
Sanders interrupted immediately, saying "I don't have an apology for you . . . You will not get one."
