Rep. Charlie Dent, R-Pa., may be considering working as a political commentator after his retirement from Congress next month.
Dent, who confirmed this week he will leave the House chamber sometime in May, said during a separate interview his post-congressional life may take him to the airwaves.
"It's no secret I've been talking about media work," Dent told Penn Live. "I'm sure I will be doing more than one thing, several things. You can say that pretty safely."
Dent told the website his departure from the House will fall somewhere between May 8 and Memorial Day.
"I'm still working on things," Dent said.
He added that the political environment has become "very challenging. … You might say it's even a toxic environment. I'm not surprised by the departures. Some are departing because of term limits on committee chairs. Some are departing for other reasons. It's a difficult political environment."
More than 40 House Republicans are either retiring during their current term or leaving the chamber at the end of this year when their terms are up.
