President Donald Trump scoffed at The New York Times story that claimed his campaign had "longstanding structural weaknesses," writing on Twitter that "every RALLY is BOFFO."
Citing anonymous sources, the Times story, titled "Trump Runs the Kind of Campaign He Likes, but Not the One He Might Need," claims there is a "large gulf separating the president's experience of the campaign from the more sobering assessments of party officials."
By addressing New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman – one of two bylines on the story – directly on her Twitter account, Trump derided the piece.
Trump tweeted:
"There has never been a time in either of my two campaigns when I felt we had a stronger chance of winning than we do right now. Early voting reports look far stronger than originally anticipated. Every RALLY is BOFFO."
In a subsequent post, Trump commended White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and referred to the enthusiasm of his supporters, making note of last week's New York Post report that emails uncovered in a laptop indicated a Ukrainian petroleum company executive thanked Hunter Biden for introducing him to his father, former Vice President and Democratic nominee for president Joe Biden.
Trump added:
"MarkMeadows & team are doing a fantastic job....There has never been more enthusiasm or spirit, by everyone. Great fun, and so good for our country. Already winning many states, but not reported. Biden put the LID on again – raising money with promises. They finally caught him, COLD, and he knows it. Laptop is devastating!"
