Former President Bill Clinton Friday attacked the "sneering reference" by Bernie Sanders to Hillary Clinton's huge victories in primary races in the South during Thursday's debate in Brooklyn.
"Oh, it's just the South," Clinton said mockingly,
The Hill reports. "We know how conservative they are."
"Well excuse me, but Democrats need to win Florida and North Carolina not only to get elected, but they are states of the future — highly diverse," Bill Clinton said. "And she won a big victory there."
Hillary Clinton won Democratic primaries in such Southern states as Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee on the strength of African-American voters.
Blacks are expected to play a critical role in Tuesday's primary in New York, the Hill reports.
