Joe Biden shamed President Donald Trump on Friday for playing “yet another round of golf” at a time the coronavirus pandemic is escalating in some parts of the United States.

Trump started off the Fourth of July weekend at his Virginia golf property ahead of a scheduled visit to Mount Rushmore on Friday night.

“We are five months into this crisis, and our health care workers still don't have the masks and protective equipment they need. It's a national disgrace,” Biden tweeted.

“Mr. President, use your authority and fix the shortage of PPE before you tee off for yet another round of golf.”

In a follow-up post, Biden sniped that the president had “styled himself as a wartime president. But now it seems this president has surrendered. He has waved the white flag and left the field of battle when we need him most. It's unacceptable. We need real leadership. Right now.”

At the South Dakota event Friday night, Trump is expected to deliver a speech and take in a fireworks display at Mount Rushmore that will be capped at 7,500 people.

On Saturday, he’ll host a “Salute to America” celebration before the annual fireworks display on the National Mall. The Department of the Interior has 30,000 masks ready for the crowd expected to show up.
