Joe Biden said Thursday night he’d take a vaccine to protect against COVID-19 — but said there should be a "plan" for distributing it even before it's available.
In an ABC News forum held at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia and moderated by the ABC anchor George Stephanopoulos, Biden warned there likely won’t be a vaccine until early 2021.
''If the body of scientists say this is what’s ready to be done, yes I would take and encourage others,'' he said.
''In the meantime what I’m worried about … there is no plan how to distribute it,'' he said. ''What we should be [making] a plan when we have the vaccine.''
He also said it’s unlikely he could institute a federal vaccine mandate.
Biden blasted President Donald Trump's handling of the pandemic.
"There should be a national standard ... it is the presidential responsibility to lead."
