Vice President Joe Biden said Monday he "prays" President-elect Donald Trump will continue the "moonshot" to eradicate cancer that President Barack Obama placed on his shoulders one year ago.

"I know those in the private sector, philanthropy, at academic institutions and non-profit organizations are going to continue to work no matter what the next administration does," The Hill reported Biden saying at the World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland.

"There's too much momentum here and this will include me as a private citizen," Biden said.

While Biden admitted he does not have the knowledge to lead the fight to eradicate cancer, he said he does have the power to get the important people together and is seen as a "fair dealer."

"I may even have the ability to occasionally shame so people move in directions that up to now there has been unwillingness to move, because of the culture that's developed," he said.

Biden's son, Beau, lost a battle to cancer in 2016.
