Most of the money raised by a cancer organization bearing Joe Biden's name went to paying staff members, including six-figure salaries for executives, a new report finds.

The Washington Free Beacon reported that the Biden Cancer Initiative, which started in 2017, spent just over $3 million on staff salaries in 2017 and 2018. It raised and spent $4.8 million.

That means roughly 65% of the money went to salaries. Several executives at the nonprofit, including its president, vice president, and directors of communication, engagement, science policy, earned anywhere from roughly $171,000 to nearly $225,000 in 2018.

The Free Beacon noted that charity watchdogs recommend nonprofits spend no more than 25% of their income on overhead and fundraising costs.

Biden, who served eight years as vice president under President Barack Obama, is the Democratic Party's presumptive presidential nominee for the November election.

Last summer, it was reported that the Biden Cancer Initiative was shutting down.
