Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., sounded confident Saturday night despite finishing well behind former Vice President Joe Biden in the South Carolina primary.
"You can't win them all," the 78-year-old Sanders told an enthusiastic crowd in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
"There are a lot of states out there, and tonight we did not win in South Carolina. That will not be the only defeat. There are a lot of states in this country. Nobody wins them all. I want to congratulate Joe Biden on his victory tonight. Now we enter Super Tuesday in Virginia."
Biden, 77, won the Palmetto State by a wide margin. Sanders entered Saturday leading the race for delegates in the Democratic race.
The RealClear Politics polling average shows Sanders leads Biden by nearly 11 points.
In his speech Saturday night, Sanders said his campaign will need a massive boost in voter turnout if he wins the Democratic nomination and expects to defeat President Donald Trump in November.
"In order to beat Trump, we need to have the largest voter turnout in the history of this country," he said.
