Sen. Bernie Sanders I-Vt., is expected to attack the Republican healthcare bill in a speech before the NAACP convention on Monday, The Hill reports.
"We have got to stop worrying about Trump's tweets, and pay attention to the actual legislation he is supporting," he said in the statement released by his office. "This legislation would result in the unnecessary deaths of thousands of Americans every single year."
Sanders maintained the bill would kick 22 million off health insurance and cut Medicaid funding, according to the Hill.
He added that the GOP bill is "the most destructive and irresponsible piece of legislation brought to the U.S. Senate in the modern history of our country."
Sanders, who ran against Hillary Clinton for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination is considering another run in 2020.
