The campaign of Democratic presidential contender Sen. Bernie Sanders has run more TV ads than Hillary Clinton's team in each of the last six months – and beat her fundraising in three of them,
the Washington Post reports.
The outsider Vermont candidate raised almost $15 million more than insider front-runner Clinton in March alone – and collected more money than her campaign in January, February and March, the Post reports.
"That is stunning," Post blogger Chris Cillizza writes Tuesday.
The TV ad splurge data from the Center for Public Integrity show Sanders's ability to win in big states like Michigan and Wisconsin, as well as elsewhere, is not only due to "grass-roots energy," Cillizza argues.
"It's also built on thousands and thousands of television ads paid for by Sanders's off-the-charts fundraising," he writes.
