Sen. Bernie Sanders' extensive email list from his 2016 bid for president is unlikely to be turned over to the Democratic National Committee, according to his former campaign manager Jeff Weaver.
"I don't think you should expect that to happen," he told Politico. "If people think the Sanders' list is just an ATM, they're sadly mistaken.
"It's a list of millions of people who are motivated by a certain policy agenda. If they think it can be easily transferred, I think it's a fantasy."
Politico reported the DNC wants the list from the independent Vermont senator as it continues to try to recover from Hillary Clinton's failed campaign.
But Sanders has no intention of providing it and is demanding chairman Tom Perez reshape the organization.
"We still have a long way to go," Weaver said. "We've made big steps forward in opening up the party and making the nominating process more democratic. We've also got to make sure that all the different factions of the party are represented at the DNC. Tom can do a little bit more to bring in some other voices."
The Hill noted Sanders had backed Perez's opponent, Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., in the race for party chairman.
After losing to Perez, Ellison now serves as deputy chairman.
