Former President Barack Obama is set to meet with the leaders of China and India on his upcoming tour which will also take him to France, CNN reports.
About two weeks after President Donald Trump visited the region, Obama began his trip in Shanghai, where he spoke at a trade summit and held private meetings, according to The Washington Post. On Wednesday, he's expected to speak at an education summit in China's capital, where he will also meet with President Xi Jinping.
"As President, Obama forged a close and cooperative partnership with President Xi on issues ranging from growing the global economy to combating climate change, and he looks forward to catching up with his former counterpart," his spokeswoman Katie Hill said in a statement to CNN.
The former president will later attend the HT Media Leadership Summit, the Obama Foundation Town Hall for young Indian leaders in New Delhi, and with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"President Obama believes that countries are strongest when we empower our young people - because ultimately, they're the ones who will shape our future," Bernadette Meehan, executive director of International Programs at the Obama Foundation, told The Times of India.
Finally, Obama will speak at the Les Napoleons Summit in Paris at the end of the week, where he will also hold some private meetings.
