Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., told Newsmax on Monday that the Biden administration's "callousness" regarding the attacks on U.S. service members in the Middle East "is astounding."
American personnel stationed in Iraq are set to undergo evaluations for traumatic brain injuries after militias attacked Al-Asad airbase in western Iraq over the weekend, the latest in a series of attacks on bases housing U.S. forces in the region.
National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby said over the weekend that there were "no serious physical injuries."
"A traumatic brain injury is a serious injury and needs special treatment, and I would suggest that the VA start allowing a hyperbaric oxygen treatment for more of those TBIs," Biggs, who sits on the House Oversight Committee, said on "Newsline."
"But beyond that, the callousness is astounding. ... We've had 83 attacks on US military since Oct. 7 in Syria; you've had another 53 in Iraq."
Biggs added: "What that boils down to is, at the same time you're giving $6 billion back to the Iranian regime" where it's being funneled to groups including the one "that claims credit for most of this, it's called the Islamic Resistance, our own administration is funding … Iran ... these groups that are attacking our own military men and women overseas. It's absolutely disgusting and, quite frankly, immoral."
