Fifty-nine percent of New York’s Democratic voters support Gov. Andrew Cuomo, while 23 percent back his primary challenger Cynthia Nixon, according to a new Quinnipiac University Poll.
In a Quinnipiac poll, Cuomo led Nixon by 50-28 percent.
Here are highlights from the New York poll:
- 57 percent of all New York voters back Cuomo in a head-to-head general election matchup with Republican Marc Molinaro, who is supported by 31 percent
- 49 percent have a favorable view of Cuomo, while 38 percent have an unfavorable opinion of him
- 27 percent have a favorable opinion of Nixon, while 30 percent have an unfavorable view. Forty percent say they have not heard enough about her
- 20 percent have a favorable view of Molinaro, compared to 12 percent, who have an unfavorable opinion. 66 percent say they have not heard enough about him
- 57 percent of New York voters back Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, while 30 percent back her Republican challenger Chele Farley
The poll, conducted July 12-16, surveyed 934 voters in New York. It has an overall margin of error of plus or minus 4.1 percent.
