No sooner had Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., announced her exit from the presidential race Monday than her home state of Minnesota almost automatically became a likely pickup for Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., on Super Tuesday.
"Many people early voted and they cannot change their vote at this late date," former Democratic state Sen. Ember Reichgott Junge told Newsmax on Tuesday morning. "Also, because the voter names are reported to the political parties, many people are staying home, such as those who serve in nonpartisan offices, such as clergy and journalists."
Reichgott-Junge, a close friend and longtime supporter of Klobuchar, concluded "all of that tells me that Sanders will win Minnesota."
"The passionate Sanders voters will not be deterred by party reporting," she pointed out. [State Attorney Gen.] Keith Ellison and [U.S. Rep]. Ilhan Omar are known for voter turnout organizing."
Both Ellison and Omar are passionate Sanders backers.
As Democrats gather in caucuses to select 75 national convention delegates, former New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg has been a presence throughout the Gopher State after weeks of intense television advertising.
"And with Mayor Bloomberg, Joe Biden, and Amy on the ballot, Sanders wins," Reichgott Junge told us, adding "the question is by how much."
