Many Americans say President Donald Trump is a man of his word, according to a new Gallup poll.

Sixty-two percent of Americans polled said Trump keeps his promises while 42 percent believe he is honest, with Republicans much more positive than Democrats. Fifty-nine percent said Trump, only three weeks into his term, is a strong and decisive leader, with 53 percent polled saying he can bring about the changes this country needs.

Trump made several promises during the campaign, but the biggest ones include building a wall along the Mexican-U.S. border and temporarily banning Muslims from entering the country. The wall, Trump said, would be paid for by Mexico, but Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto retorted that would not happen. Trump's ban, meanwhile, was put in place in late January but was temporarily overturned by a judge in Washington State.

In the same poll, only 4 percent of Democrats say they approve of the job Trump is doing while 81 percent of Republicans say he inspires confidence and is honest and trustworthy. More Democrats, though, now do believe Trump can bring about change — that number has increased from 9 percent to 20 percent since September.

The poll was conducted Feb. 1-5 with a random sample of 1,035 adults.
