A leading Democrat threw a double jab at President Donald Trump on Friday regarding the GOP's desire to reform the nation's healthcare system.
Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., tweeted this in response to Trump's healthcare executive order and his message earlier Friday that pledged to repair the "broken mess" that is the health insurance system:
On Thursday, Trump signed an order that would make it easier for Americans to obtain low-cost health insurance plans. He doubled down on his pledge to do away with Obamacare Friday morning.
A report Friday, however, said Trump's order may be in violation of a federal law governing employee benefit plans.
The order, which will not become official for several months as it clears government hurdles, would allow small businesses to join nationwide associations with the intent of buying into large-group health insurance plans. Republicans say that would allow more people to have health insurance, and at a lower cost.
Despite controlling both houses of Congress and the White House, Republicans have come up short in their efforts this year to repeal and replace Obamacare.
