President Donald Trump blocked release of a Democratic memo because it undermines his “vindication” in a House Intelligence Committee memo alleging FBI surveillance abuses, the panel’s ranking Democrat charged Sunday.
In an interview on CBS News’ “Face The Nation,” Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., said Trump “doesn't want the public to see the underlying facts.”
“What is revealed in our memo are quotations from the actual [Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act] application that really demonstrate just how misleading the Republicans have been,” Schiff declared. “The president doesn't want you to see the facts from the FISA application because it completely undermines his claim of vindication."
Schiff maintained for the Democratic memo, lawmakers “not only [sat] down with the FBI and go through any concerns that they have — but did so before the rebuttal was submitted.”
“Unlike Republicans we gave the FBI and department much justice even before we took it up in committee, invited their feedback,” he said.
