Paul Endorses Sanford, Dems Launch Another Attack

Tuesday, 30 April 2013 01:16 PM EDT

A week before the special election in South Carolina's 1st Congressional District, House Democrats launched another ad attacking former Gov. Mark Sanford's personal indiscretions. Sanford, meanwhile, picked up the endorsement of Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, who is considering a run for president.

Both Sanford and his Democratic opponent, Elizabeth Colbert Busch, were to appear at events Tuesday, a day after their first campaign debate. That debate marked the first time Colbert Busch raised the issue of Sanford's past.

Paul said in a statement that Sanford has shown that watching out for the taxpayers and holding the line on spending are his top priorities.

Meanwhile, the new television ad from the House Majority PAC featured a woman who says that she is a lifelong Republican but that Sanford's betrayal of South Carolinians "is more than a mile long."
