The U.S. military is undertaking an unprecedented, nationwide mobilization effort, sending thousands of troops to virus hotspots, building field hospitals of the sort normally seen in war zones, calling recently retired doctors and nurses back to duty, and sparing no effort to assist health officials wage an all-out war on the coronavirus.
Over 21,300 members of the Air and Army National Guard have been mobilized to help governors in 18 states respond to the crisis, MilitaryTimes.com reports.
