Shaffer to Newsmax: Sinwar Indictment 'a Sham'

By    |   Saturday, 07 September 2024 01:21 PM EDT

The Department of Justice filing criminal charges against Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar for the Oct. 7 massacre in Israel now is a "sham," says retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Tony Shaffer.

"I'd like to believe that we'd send Delta in to grab him [last year] like we did after the Bosnian War. It's called extraordinary rendition. But we're not going to do that. It's all a sham," he said during an appearance on Newsmax TV's "Saturday Report."

Shaffer noted that the DOJ needs to rethink its priorities when prosecuting crimes.

"Did it take the DOJ one year to figure this out? Well, apparently it did because they're still investigating grandmothers for January 6th. They're now investigating people who protest peacefully in front of abortion clinics," he added.

Retired Air Force Brig. General Blaine Holt said Democrats are trying to strike a balance between sounding "tough" while "appeasing" voters in swing states.

"They're now creating this bifurcated space. So you've got the Biden team that's impaneled right now so they think it's safe to drop indictments on Hamas. Meanwhile, the Harris team can say, oh, we're going to have a completely different team and will appease Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota on these electoral votes," Holt told Newsmax.
