Rex Tillerson might be a good choice as the nation's top diplomat — but "the real management of the State Department is not done by the secretary of state, it is done by his or her deputy," former Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., told Newsmax TV on Tuesday.
Tancredo believes the No. 2 will be former United Nations Ambassador John Bolton, he told "The Steve Malzberg Show": "I wish it could."

"He is so bright," Tancredo said. "He understands the issue so well.
"Maybe it was wishful thinking for me to say he's going to be" named to the post by President-elect Donald Trump.
"If it is true, that's really the most important position there — because there is no deeper swamp that has more snakes in it than the State Department," Tancredo said.
"So, draining that particular swamp is an unbelievably tough undertaking that only John Bolton can do."
