Republican lawmakers should not repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, they should just kill it altogether, former House majority leader Tom DeLay tells Newsmax TV.
"It's unconstitutional for the federal government to be involved in health insurance . . . and it shouldn't be replaced. It's a total failure because it's so unconstitutional and goes against market-based principles," DeLay said Tuesday on Newsmax TV's "America Talks Live."
"[But] instead of just repealing it all we've got to keep some, we've got to replace it, we've got to play around with it so the left ends up with something. What we ought to do is absolutely repeal it and not replace it."

Despite his misgivings about the future of the nation's healthcare program, DeLay said he is very excited that the Republican Congress returned to Capitol Hill on Tuesday and began to work.
"They're going after the whole notion of the president in the last lame duck months of his presidency. [President Barack Obama] imposes all these late-night, midnight regulations and they're going to take on a resolution against Obama's UN resolution against Israel," DeLay told Malzberg.
"So in one week they are already hitting the ground and running and I'm very excited about that."
