The Republican Party should nominate the candidate who is "produced by the rules" — particularly the one who's "playing by the rules," Rep. Steve King told
Newsmax TV on Tuesday.
"The rules in the convention are that you have to get to the convention," the Iowa Republican told "The Steve Malzberg Show" in an interview. "You have to win the majority of the delegates.

"What we're looking at is something that's unique in our political history — and that is because they changed the rules in 2012," he said. "Because of Ron Paul's involvement, they set the rules up in such a way that the delegates that are elected, all except for a few of them, will have their ballot cast for them without really having a voice on the first vote.
"The first vote is an automatic vote. If we're going to reflect the will of the delegates, which is what he convention is about, then we're going to have to see a second ballot.
"On that second ballot, you'll see [Ted] Cruz pick up a lot of stream, and he could conceivably win it on a second ballot," King said. "But on a subsequent ballot, odds go to Cruz instead of [Donald] Trump.
"He's playing by the rules. As long as Trump's playing by the rules, let's support the nominee that's produced by the rules."
