Documents obtained from NSA leaker Edward Snowden allege that the United States spied on five Muslim Americans just
because they were Muslim, but LIGNET's Chief Analyst Fred Fletiz says that's not true.
"Now, what happened here is the FBI and the NSA obtained court warrants to monitor the communications of the last five individuals," Fleitz told Ed Berliner Thursday on "MidPoint" on
Newsmax TV.
"And Greenwald and [The New York Times] is claiming that there was no reason to do that, they didn’t have any suspicious connections," he explained.
"Not true," the former CIA agent said. "All of them except for Hooshang Amirahmadi had ties to Hamas, Hezbollah, or al-Qaida. Amirahmadi ran for the president of Iran and has ties to Hezbollah and to the Iranian government."
"So to claim that these guys were targeted simply because they were Muslims is simply untrue," he added.
