SEAL Who Shot Bin Laden: ISIS Needs to Be Taken Seriously

Newsmax TV's "The Joe Pags Show"

The terrorist attack Monday in England that left 22 people dead and dozens injured should force people to take ISIS more seriously, former Navy SEAL Robert O'Neill told Newsmax TV.

"You would think that after so many of these attacks over and over, and the beheading videos, we would take them more seriously than we do," O'Neill, author of "The Operator" and the man who killed Osama bin Laden, told Tuesday's "The Joe Pags Show." "These guys are very, very real. The're serious clerics and they're scholars telling them this is what it is, and they make them believe it, and they teach them that from a very, very young age. It's very, very dangerous."

ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack, which happened at the Manchester Arena during an Ariana Grande concert. The man identified as the bomber was Salman Abedi, who died in the blast.

"One of the soldiers of the caliphate was able to place an explosive device within a gathering of the crusaders in the city of Manchester," ISIS said on one of its social media accounts.

O'Neill said the U.S. needs Saudi Arabia's help in stopping the cycle of ISIS reeling in young people. Abedi was 22.

"They're our allies when it benefits them it's like anybody else," O’Neill said. "They're going to negotiate with us in their interest but this form, this philosophy, this Wahhabism comes from Saudi Arabia. A lot of those rich Saudis are funding a lot of these madrasas in places like Pakistan where they're teaching them this radicalized version of Sunni Islam. They're doing it here. They're funding it. We need to find who's funding it and stop them."
