Democrats will certainly oppose President Donald Trump's selection for the Supreme Court no matter what, because "it's not about the country anymore — it's personal," commentator Bill O'Reilly said Monday.
In an interview on Newsmax TV's "Newsmax Now" ahead of Monday night's announcement, the veteran broadcaster and author said partisan politics will dominate the Senate nomination process.
"It could be Jesus . . . the Democrats would be opposed," he said. "Because it's not about the country anymore. It's personal, about destroying the other side . . ."

According to O'Reilly, Democratic congressional leaders Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., got the word out "that if you're a Democrat and you support Donald Trump's nominee for the Supreme Court you will not get any money when you run for re-election. In fact, the Democratic Party will oppose you in a primary situation. So, it's a threat."
O'Reilly also weighed in on Trump's upcoming NATO meeting, saying the president's demands some members pay more are "certainly valid."
But O'Reilly said he would not use "the hammer" as much as Trump does in those talks.
"I'd put the facts out, and I'd go, 'you know what? We're gonna make an offer they can't refuse.' . . . I'd try to do diplomacy before I really dropped the sledge hammer on their head," he said.
He also warned a one-to-one meeting with Russia President Vladimir Putin afterward in Finland will be tricky, even if the pair come to some agreements.
"I can't see Putin stopping his agitation," O'Reilly said. "I can't see him stopping it even though it would be good for his country, would help the Russian economy if he did stop. But he's so . . . awful. What an awful human being he is. But I don't see him stoping."
