Rep. Scott Perry, R-Pa., told Newsmax Monday that in the wake of the continued Democratic Party block on key government funding, Republicans must handle funding on their own.
Perry told "Bianca Across the Nation" that he understands why many Americans are upset with Congress.
"They're right to be fed up," he said. "And the Democrats are absolutely causing this.
He added, "I know they're not getting the blame for it, but that's who's voting no."
Perry said the Republican majority is now preparing to use a legislative tactic to work around the stalling Democrats.
"The Senate and the House Republicans are going to have to do reconciliation to fund the entire government on our own," he said, "because the Democrats refuse to fund any of it as long as you're funding law enforcement."
Perry claimed law enforcement and immigration enforcement are the primary Democrat targets.
"They are the anti-law enforcement party," he said. "They don't want any of their voters to be deported."
"And they're willing to vote no and blame it on Republicans. We're going to have to do it ourselves," added Perry.
He said the legislative planning is already underway.
"And so that's all being worked on right now," said Perry. "And I suspect as soon as we get back, we'll have some package put together where we just deal with that and move forward without the Democrats, who want the chaos."
Democrats in Congress, Perry said, want illegals protected so they can vote. "They want all this for the midterms."
"They're willing to sacrifice not only the jobs of TSA [Transportation Security Administration] agents and the time of people that punch a clock that are trying to get on vacation, but literally, they're willing to sacrifice the lives of people that are killed by immigrants — people that are here illegally — who kill them, rape them, and rob them," explained Perry.
He said it's sad to see how far Democrats are willing to go.
"So they zeroed out," Perry continued. "This is important: They zeroed out the line for border security and immigration and customs enforcement, and they sent it to the House thinking that people like me are going to vote with Democrats to defund the police."
Perry said the time has come for the Department of Homeland Security funding battle to end.
"No, we're not going to defund," added Perry. "We're not going to leave our country wide open."
He challenged Republican senators who supported the Democrat plan to turn around and return to the Capitol to protect the homeland.
Perry posted on Saturday that the Senate needs to match the effort of the House.
"The House acted responsibly to pay our law enforcement officers. The Senate needs to return to Washington and do their job," he wrote.
"Americans' safety is more important than a two-week vacation," Perry added.
Major U.S. airports that suffered massive disruptions for weeks after 50,000 TSA officers went unpaid since mid-February say operations on Monday are returning to normal.
This is happening as President Donald Trump employed a workaround to issue payroll funding despite the legislative block imposed by Democrats.
